Searching the web with pictures

By: Patrick Porter

Google are pushing the envelope again, this time introducing Google Goggles, a type of visual search.

Imagine being able to search by taking a picture instead of typing in words. Sound a little 'pie in the sky'? Well it might be closer to reality than you think.

Google have announced another recent innovation they are working on called 'Google Goggles'. This new addition is suggested to support visual search. All you need to do is open the application, take a photo and then Google will return a set of search results.

Let's not get too excited though as the software is still relatively new. But Google, as they do, will work on it and are likely to come up with something pretty special. Watch a Google video demo here and go here to find out more.
